As all the new students enter USUHS each year, they line up in ceremony to take the Hippocratic Oath. They commit to serving those in need with dignity and honor and maintain a high ethical code in their practice. Most physicians don't take the oath until they graduate, but the military feels that anyone in education or practice should understand their commitment.
